Irish Bodhrán players use various types of tippers (drum sticks). One that is a favorite is the multi-dowel tipper. This type of tipper is unique because it has several small dowels around a larger dowel. When it strikes the drum head, the result is that of a sort-of “wooden brush.” Multi-dowel tippers are also adjustable to allow for more (or less) of the wooden brush sound.
